Tennessee Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame 2018 | Inductee #11
Dr. Dave Whitaker | Murfreesboro, Tennessee
AQHA and TQHA Director/President, TQHA Scholarship and FAACT Founder, Judge, and Coach
Dave Whitaker has been a leader of and for TQHA and AQHA for a very long time. He has fashioned, developed, and led many advances in our programs and in the ways we think of and treat horses.
He became a TQHA Director in 1982, and President in 1985 and 1986. He started the TQHA Scholarship program. When TQHA won an AQHA AIM grant, Dave led the initiative to found FAACT – the Farm Animal Care Coalition of TN – Tennessee’s great multi-species cooperation, information, and emergency response resource. Dave was President for its first two years.
As an AQHA Director since 1986, Dave has served on five AQHA committees and chaired three – Youth, Research, and Hall of Fame; and he currently serves on the AQHA Welfare Commission. He judged for 31 years, including seven World Shows, and coached judging teams that won the Congress four times, the World Show twice, and were Reserve Champion at the World three times.
Dave helped organize the TQHA Hall of Fame – and today takes his rightful place in our recorded history.
